Description
Pan Fried Cinnamon Bananas are a delectably simple dessert that combines sweet bananas with the warm spice of cinnamon, all caramelized to perfection in a pan. This quick and easy treat is perfect for topping pancakes, waffles, or enjoyed on its own with a scoop of ice cream.
Ingredients
2 bananas (slightly overripe)
2 tablespoons sugar (or substitute)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
1. Slice the Bananas
Slice the bananas into rounds, approximately ⅓ inch thick.
2. Mix the Spices
In a small bowl, combine the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if desired). Set aside.
3. Heat the Skillet
Lightly spray a large skillet with nonstick oil spray and warm over medium-low heat.
4. Cook the Bananas
Add the banana slices to the skillet.
Sprinkle half of the cinnamon mixture on top. Cook for about 2-3 minutes.
Flip the rounds, then sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon mixture. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the bananas are soft and warmed through.
Notes
- Slightly overripe bananas work best. If they are too overripe, they might become mushy.
- Be careful not to overcook the bananas; they are done when they start to get too soft.
- The quality of the oil can affect the taste. Fresh, good-quality oil is recommended, with coconut oil being a good choice.
- You can substitute butter for the oil if preferred.
- Granulated Splenda or equivalent can be used as a sugar substitute, but white sugar works best. Brown sugar or honey can also be used.
