Description

Banana Bread Brownies are a moist, flavorful combination of classic banana bread and rich, fudgy brownies. These decadent treats are perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth and using up ripe bananas in a creative way.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Brownies:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 medium bananas)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

For the Frosting (optional):

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Batter:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
    • Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well. Stir in the mashed bananas until combined.
    • Gradually add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips if using.
  3. Bake:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Make the Frosting (Optional):
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more milk if needed.
  5. Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Drizzle or spread the frosting over the brownies once they are completely cool. Slice and serve.

Notes

  • For added texture, mix in 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans.
  • To store, keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • For a gluten-free option, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free baking mix.
