Description

  • 1 lb cocktail sausages (smokies)
  • 1 lb bacon, cut into thirds
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey (optional for glaze)
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for a spicy kick)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. Wrap the Smokies:
    • Wrap each cocktail sausage with a piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick. Place them on the prepared wire rack.
  3. Add the Glaze:
    • In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, maple syrup (if using), and cayenne pepper. Sprinkle or brush the mixture over the wrapped smokies.
  4. Bake:
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized. Rotate the tray halfway through for even cooking.
  5. Serve:
    • Allow the smokies to cool slightly before transferring them to a serving platter. Serve warm.
