Description
Bacon Wrapped Smokies are the ultimate crowd-pleasing appetizer. These bite-sized treats combine smoky little sausages wrapped in crispy bacon and coated with a sweet and savory glaze. Perfect for parties, game days, or holiday gatherings!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb cocktail sausages (smokies)
- 1 lb bacon, cut into thirds
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey (optional for glaze)
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for a spicy kick)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top.
- Wrap the Smokies:
- Wrap each cocktail sausage with a piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick. Place them on the prepared wire rack.
- Add the Glaze:
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, maple syrup (if using), and cayenne pepper. Sprinkle or brush the mixture over the wrapped smokies.
- Bake:
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized. Rotate the tray halfway through for even cooking.
- Serve:
- Allow the smokies to cool slightly before transferring them to a serving platter. Serve warm.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, broil the smokies for 1-2 minutes at the end of baking.
- You can substitute cocktail sausages with small chicken or turkey sausages for a lighter version.
- Make ahead: Assemble the smokies a day in advance, refrigerate, and bake just before serving.
